Dec 05 – I couldn’t be more excited to share that on January 6 & 7, 2023, a cast of veritable singers from the iSing! Festival including tenor Thomas Glenn, Baritone Valdis Jansons, and the Philadelphia Orchestra will come together to give the US premiere of “Yellow Crane Tower“, a composition for SATB chorus, soloists and symphony orchestra which won the grand prize at the 2020 iSing! Composition Competition.

Written in the early stages of the pandemic, the composition was brought to life by the iSing! Festival, conductor Lin Daye, and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra in November 2021 in spite of the restrictions on gatherings in place at the time. The concert – consisting of several world premieres by composers around the world – was recorded and broadcasted in China during the 2021 lunar new year celebrations.
The coming performances take place at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia (Jan 6), followed by a second performance at Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, New York (Jan 7). Both performances will be conducted by Liu Kuokman. Tickets for the Philadelphia performance can be found here, while tickets for Lincoln Center are here.

Dec 7 Update: The Philadelphia Orchestra has made a press release with the full details of the performance here.
