Winner of the Pierre Mercure Prize in the SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers Competition | Toronto, Canada

I am thrilled to announce that my work “Memories” for harp and marimba has won the 2nd Prize of $1500 in the SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers!  This annual competition is open to emerging Canadian composers under the age of 30 and is divided into 5 different sections, each with a focus on a different instrumentation.  “Memories” was awarded 2nd prize in the Pierre Mercure section, and was judged against other works for 1-2 performers.  For more information about the award, follow the link here!  If you have time, it would be awesome if you could check out the premiere performance of the piece below by harpist Sanya Eng and percussionist Ryan Scott:

Originally written for the Canadian Contemporary Composers’ Workshop (CCMW) in Toronto, this piece was also awarded the MusCAN Student Composition Competition prize this year, and received a performance at the University of Ottawa as part of the Congress of Social Sciences and Humanities.
