Written for virtuoso and friend Ruben Bettencourt, Estatico is a finger twister of a piece for guitar that features some fast passage work as well as some meditative soul searching. The piece builds upon my previous work for guitar “Meditation“, where that work is an exploration or space and sound through sparse textures and the use of harmonics, “Estatico” creates a stark contrast with its energetic and jazzy riffs that put the performer to the test. While rapturous and extroverted in nature, “Estatico” also has moments of calm and rest, just as one cannot be overwhelmed with excitement for too long.
