Roydon offers individual and group instruction in composition, piano, musical skills, score-reading and analysis. Comfortable working with a wide age range, he tailors his lesson plan to individual needs and provides both in-person and online teaching via Zoom.

Student Success

Roydon’s students have achieved notable successes, gaining admission to music and composition programs such as the Curtis Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. Their works have been performed by esteemed ensembles such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Scarborough Philharmonic, and the Cantabile Choirs of Kingston, and many have garnered international recognition, winning accolades at events like the Thailand International Composition Festival and receiving invitations to perform at venues such as Carnegie Hall.

Teaching Experience

Roydon has served as a faculty member of the Community Music Schools of Toronto, and the Canadian Opera Company, and given lectures at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto, University of Saskatchewan, East Carolina University, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, among others. He currently teaches composition & musicianship at the University of Calgary’s School for Creative and Performing Arts.
