Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) will be broadcasting the live performance from May 9th featuring the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra performing my work, “Sinfonia Concertante”, on radio 4. The piece was superbly performed by the HKPO led by conductor & composer Bright Sheng in a program of works by emerging HK composers Raphael Mak, Wong Chun-Wai, Chris Wu as well as one of Bright’s pieces and Stravinsky’s “Jeu de Cartes”. For those interested in tuning in from abroad, the broadcast will take place on June 6th at 8pm HK time, as well as a repeat broadcast on June 11th at 2pm HK time.
I had the pleasure of attending the very special homecoming concert in Hong Kong at the beginning of May, working with the HK Phil in rehearsal and learning from Maestro Sheng. Here are some pictures from the concert: (Photo Credit – Cheung Chi Wai)
June 10th 2015 update: I am pleased to be a recipient of a Travel Grant for Professional Musicians from the Canada Council for the Arts to attend the HK Phil performance. The news of the grant only came in a few days ago and I am very grateful for their support and recognition of my work in music!
