I am excited to announce that I will be working on a new commission for my alma mater, the University of British Columbia for the celebration of their centennial anniversary! For this celebration, I will be writing a fanfare for the UBC Concert Winds which will be given several performances during their celebration year at the Chan Center for the Performing Arts, with the world premiere slated for October this year. Here is a little blurb from UBC about this special year:
“On September 30, 1915, 379 students comprised the first class of the University of British Columbia. Of those 379 students, 41 had already completed three years at the preceding institution, McGill University College of BC, and so graduated as UBC’s first alumni on May 4, 1916.
The university will be marking the Centennial of these historic events from September 2015 to May 2016. The objective of the Centennial is to celebrate not only the achievements of the past 100 years, but also to demonstrate to the wider world the exponential curve that the university is on and – most importantly – where we are headed.”
More information to come!
