January 2024 – Happy New Year! For those of you reading this, I hope your new year has been off to a great start. 2023 was a busy year and from the looks of it, I am excited for what 2024 has in store. Starting the year off is news that I have received a Toronto Arts Council Music grant to fund the composition of a new song cycle for high voice and piano. The 10-minute mini cycle sets poetry by Odgen Nash (1902 – 1971), the renowned American writer and humorist known for his short yet incisive poems.
The cycle is expected to be completed by August 2024, and I am thrilled to collaborate with soprano and good friend Karine White to bring it to life in the near future. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity and support of the Toronto Arts Council and its Board of directors for their backing of this project and their continued support for the arts in the city.
