September 2023 – I am excited to be embarking on a new project for the Michael Steinberg and Jorja Fleezanis Foundation in Minneapolis, MN, pairing the poetry of Ellen Bryant Voigt with new music! I will be setting her poetry for an ensemble drawn from the musicians from the Minnesota Orchestra which will include a reading of the poetry.
I am so grateful for board members Mari Carlson, John Nuechterlein, and Anthony Ross for their invitation to be their fifth commissioned composer this year! The piece will premiere in May 2024 in Minneapolis in a special concert celebrating the life of two amazing musicians and personalities: Jorja Fleezani and Michael Steinberg.
