Selected for the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) Artsong Lab, June 8 – 13 2014

The Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) Art song lab recently approved my application for their workshop in Art song writing!  I am very excited to be heading back to Vancouver after spending some time in Toronto, and I have to admit, I do miss the seaside, mountains, and cheap food!  Presented in partnership with the Canadian Music Centre BC Regional Hub, the Art Song Lab is a multi-month collaborative experience that culminates in a week-long program comprising rehearsals, workshops, forums, community building, and concerts.  I will be collaborating with a poet and setting his/her text for a singer and pianist, who will then perform the brand new works in a concert in Vancouver.  Like many of the other festivals I’ve taken part in, I will be joined by 11 other composers from across Canada and you will get to hear their work through the workshop as well!

I look forward to seeing some of you in the city!  For more details on dates and locations of concerts (to come soon), please check the Upcoming page for more info.

I’m very excited to be the poet who has been selected to collaborate with Roydon Tse. Here is a sample of a collaboration I did with the stunning Oriana White. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb2O1VMDOyw. “O White Night” premiere concert on May 9, 2013 recorded live at the Pyatt Hall, Vancouver, BC.
